In a limited field of only 14 RTM players on a blustery Sunday at Ozo Golf Club David Pursley finally got his first RTM win of the year. Moreover, it was David’s first win in two years as his last one was recorded at J. Lo’s 50 anniversary party that was nasty celebrated also within RTM community on 24 July 2019.
The past year has been a roller-coaster for David – no wins at the best amateur golf league to the east of Berlin (Race to Milgravis) which might be something like Jordan Spieth’s recent struggle. Injury, remedied by birth of a beautiful daughter and a tiny little win of Latvian Senior’s Open at Jūrmala Golf Club and Hotel!

Despite a harsh punishment the game of golf sometimes offers also to the best ones, it is obvious that David did not lose the confidence and the winners’ belief through his plateau of games without being in contention. Military men are trained differently and the spite and wish of going to bed at night and wanting to go to work (golf) tomorrow and wanting to go out there as well as trust in what he has been doing is something to be learned for the rest of us.
Whether we pull it off or not, just to make progress as well as the opportunity itself of playing golf and competing on a weekly basis is something we should be excited and thankful.
Despite the relatively poor attendance at RTM’s Olympic Championship Satellite the win for David was not granted. Edmunds Jansons, a.k.a. the Bowler, took a two-shot lead on the turn (birdie on the 10th hole), but David countered with birdies on 11 and 12 to go ahead by two shots. It was a two-man race home and David held steady to take the victory.
Congrats to David and see y’all on Wednesday!
